Educational Programs

We have two outreach programs that are available for schools, with the emphasis on classic jazz and swing from the late 1920s through 1945. "Swingin' the Benny Goodman Songbook" spotlights Benny Goodman's music; and "With Thee I Swing" is a more general presentation about Swing Music, specifically the Classic Jazz Period from 1935-1945.

The program is usually a one-hour combination of performance, informal talk, and question/answer with students, which can be either in a classroom setting or in an auditorium. More specific clinics, labs or master classes may be arranged with colleges and universities, and are often booked in conjunction with an evening adult performance. All programs include vocalist Terry Blaine, pianist Mark Shane and clarinetist Allan Vaché; additional musicians may be included when possible.
